C.A.L.M. Hwy
The Road to Behaviour Wellness
Aversive-Free Support for Dogs Who Struggle to Feel Safe, Settled, or Understood

🌿 Welcome To 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂.𝐀.𝐋.𝐌. 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐲

Your dog's behaviour isn't a dead end. It is a signal that something feels confusing, unsafe, or overwhelming. When we take the time to understand that signal instead of trying to silence it, real progress begins. The C.A.L.M. Hwy is a specialized, evidence-based, and trauma-informed behaviour framework created by Krisztina Harasztosi, CDBC, ADT-IAABC (The Gibsons Dogrunner). It helps dogs with big emotions and complex behaviours, and the people who care about them. This approach also supports puppies who are fearful, shy, reserved, or prone to biting, helping them grow into more balanced and confident adult dogs through patient, structured guidance. This approach helps both you and your dog feel better, understand each other, and live together more harmoniously.

What Does C.A.L.M. Stand For?

Connection

Building predictable, two-way communication strengthens trust and reduces confusion. It allows learning to become cooperative rather than pressured. This includes understanding your dog’s body language, recognizing their needs, and creating a shared language based on safety, clarity, and consistency.

Awarness

Making sure your dog's needs are met through mental and sensory stimulation, breed-specific games and activities, and functional enrichment. It also includes learning your dog’s triggers and identifying management tools to navigate daily challenges, while teaching your dog the skills that make life easier over time

Learning

Helping dogs with fear, anxiety, or frustration shift out of reactive patterns and develop safer, more functional ways of engaging with the world. This is done through positive reinforcement, thoughtful shaping, and emotional support — not pressure or punishment.

Managed Exposure

Creating functional setups that allow dogs to practice and build resilience around real-life triggers. Exposure is structured and intentional, progressing through manageable levels of difficulty to build confidence without flooding or forced interactions.
